Your talent makes you who you are. You should be proud of it
Every person, including you, has a talent. You might not know what it
is yet, but it is important that you find it. Finding your talent and
turning it into your own strength is one of the best means towards
happiness and sense of fulfillment.
If you make use of your talent to your own benefit, you will make you
dreams come true. If you don’t use it, you will still be able to
achieve a lot but you will be limited and it will be harder for you to stop worrying.
When you are working in a job you like and where you are using your talents, your job doesn’t seem like a job.
You are purely enjoying working because your job doesn’t seem like
work. You are open to creativity, time passes faster and no task is too
hard to do.
When you are working just to make money
and not doing what you love, not using your talents, you may see your
job as a burden. Working eight hours per day in an environment that you
don’t like has effect on your private life. Lack of motivation, fatigue
and exhaustion, less tolerance and being unhappy are just some of the
symptoms of doing such a job.
If you ever watched TV show “Man vs. Wild” with Bear Grylls,
you may have noticed how important it is for him to find that first
spark that will make a fire. From then on he can cook, get warm, protect
himself from nasty animals and so on. When he gets his fire going he
stops worrying because he knows a lot of his problems are gone.
The same goes for you; you need to spend time to find that spark and
to find your talents. Look at it this way; even if you spend five years
or more, looking for them and you find what your talents are, you have
done an excellent job. The point here is to find them; it doesn’t matter
when, just find them.
Personally I somewhat knew what I was good at but I didn’t do
anything about it. So 15 years later, here I am, happy that I have
rediscovered my talents. When I look back, yes I could have been smarter
but that was my life path. Now I am the happiest man in the world
because I know I will get anything I want out of my life. When I go to
work now, I’m smiling, I don’t have a grumpy face, I’m not nervous or
unhappy, and noting is a problem anymore. I have stopped worrying about
everything.
You might already know what your talents are – You are lucky. Now all
you need to do is start focusing on them and use them to enhance your
life.
However, if you need to do more searching, here is a 3-step formula on how to find your talents:
1. Ask yourself, “What am I good at?
2. Ask yourself, “What people ask me to help them with?”
3. Ask 10 other people who know you, what they believe your gifts or talents are.
2. Ask yourself, “What people ask me to help them with?”
3. Ask 10 other people who know you, what they believe your gifts or talents are.
What I would like you to do now, is to use the answers from the
formula above, think about them and identify what your talents are. You
might see that you are subconsciously using them already.
But don’t worry if you haven’t used them yet, there is still time to
do it. Work on your talents, develop them, and let them become your
strength. Don’t try to fix your weaknesses, instead make your talent
stronger.
When your talent becomes your strength, you will automatically get more self-esteem and you will stop worrying.
